Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night Review — B+

Cute girl failures form an art collective.

I quite liked this— it’s a very emotional story, seeing all of the different struggles these people have and how they come together to deal with them. My favorite was the episode they introduced Kuiui which actually made me cry.

I was a bit confused by the whole premise— they are a group with all these different talents, but they seem to mainly focus on singing which is only the one girl’s talent? The concept of the arts collective or whatever they called it was confusing to me.

This was an excellent show but unfortunately it suffered from bad timing in my opinion. It aired at the same time as Girls Band Cry, which is very similar in many ways, and while Jellyfish is a good show it’s simply not as great as Girls Band Cry.

Storytelling – B – Told a very emotional story.
Voice – B – Honestly given some of the subject matter I thought the style felt a bit too upbeat.
Characters – B – Mostly great, the money girl was questionable though.
Attention Grab – B – Kept my interest.
Production – B – Looks good.
Overall – B+

Recommendations – Girls Band Cry, MyGO
