I was more of a Careers board gamer myself.
Impressions:
While I do think that the humor has absolutely run its course, I also can’t help but feel like they’re not really trying any more either. Which is ironic because the second half Life board game schtick was again the same buckshot kind of thing that was something like 20 very short completely unrelated comedy bits. Ample chance to do all kinds of things, or even just do a Jumanji, and instead we get the most tired generic Life jokes that are trotted out every time that stupid board game is mentioned.
I think the thing that’s giving the impression that they’re just padding out time until it ends is that the show’s not just completely stopped introducing any kind of new characters, or even situations since this might as well have been literally any holiday, is that the characters themselves barely even engage with their own gimmicks or personalities. You look at an episode of Galaxy Angel or Pani Poni Dash and it’s not just slotting a random character in and having them announce what their joke is… and then the straight man yelling that they have made the joke. But that’s what keeps happening here, over and over. You have to change more than the set dressing to make it a new joke, and there’s nothing more deleterious to comedy than repetition.
