Netflix have recently announced that Studio Ghibli’s Oscar and Global Globe wining film, The Boy and the Heron, will become available to stream globally (excluding France, US and Japan) on 7th October 2024.
The Boy and Heron was originally released into UK cinemas last year, and will soon find itself available on Steelbook 4K UHD Blu-Ray, HMV Exclusive 4K UHD Blu-Ray, 4K UHD Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, and DVD on 23rd September 2024 in the UK.
About: A young boy named Mahito yearning for his mother ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead. There, death comes to an end, and life finds a new beginning. A semi-autobiographical fantasy about life, death and creation, in tribute to friendship, from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki.
The addition of The Boy and the Heron to the Netflix streaming catalog further expands the list of Studio Ghibli films available on the service, as a large number of Studio Ghibli films (including our favourites Spirited Away, Kiki Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro) are already available with Grave of the Fireflies also being added to the service on 16th September 2024.
In the meantime The Boy and the Heron will be available on 4K UHD Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray and DVD formats on 23rd September 2024 with the film being added to Netflix globally on 7th October 2024.
