Suicide Squad Isekai Review — A-

Comic book villains go to another world.

This was unexpected as I normally don’t care for superheroes at all (I didn’t even know who Harley Quinn or any of the others were coming into this) and yet I had such a great time watching this. I was really impressed with how well it handled the cross-cultural aspects of the show— the American characters and sense of humor remained intact while they combined it with the very Japanese isekai setting, in particular the show’s royalty who kept getting so pissed at the American heroes and / or going wild like them.

Anime characters tend to follow Japanese culture in that they are reserved and a bit more subtle in how they communicate, and always considerate of others. So it was refreshing to have these American comic book villains who do whatever the fuck they want and do not give a shit about the consequences. It was such a joy seeing them go nuts at the drop of a pin and wear their emotions on their sleeves. Very funny show as well with a great sense of humor. Harley Quinn just looks like she is having such a fun time as she is bashing shit with her baseball bat. You can’t help but enjoy yourself as well.

Storytelling – A – So entertaining.
Voice – A – Simultaneously the dumbest and most brilliant idea.
Characters – A – Lots of fun. Even that poor red haired army guy grew on me.
Attention Grab – A – Excited throughout.
Production – A – Looks good, fluid animation.
Overall – A-

Recommendations – Recommendation for myself: I should probably check out these suicide squad movies?
