A new trailer for the 4K remastered version of Daft Punk and Leiji Matsumoto’s 2003 anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem has recently been released on YouTube, with it giving fans a glimpse at what to expect from the one night only event on 12th December 2024. In addition, tickets for this cinematic event are available through the official website.

In the UK, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, otherwise known simply as Interstella 5555, will be distributed by Trafalgar Releasing, a company who also brought The Transformers: 40th Anniversary Celebration, into UK cinemas. Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, had this to say about this exciting new event being brought to UK cinemas:

We’re excited to bring Daft Punk’s iconic Interstella 5555, now fully remastered in stunning 4K, to cinemas for this one-night-only global event. This is a rare opportunity to experience the film on the big screen, along with accompanying Daft Punk music videos, and we can’t wait to share it with audiences everywhere.”

Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem was created by Daft Punk and Cédric Hervet in collaboration with Leiji Matsumoto and Toei Animation, and tells the story of the abduction of an alien music band by an evil human character who has dark plans. Essentially the film is an anime visual album that features the entirety of Daft Punk’s seminal 2001 album Discovery as its soundtrack, including iconic anthems such as “One More Time,” “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger,” and “Veridis Quo.” Those familiar with “One More Time” may also remember the Official Music Video which featured scenes from the film as a way to boost its awareness.

To celebrate this global screening event a special Discovery: Interstella 5555 Edition will also be released in limited physical quantities. This physical edition of Discovery will contain the original Japanese edition artwork, stickers and Daft Club card, which became a true collectors’ item around its original release. The limited release will consist of 5555 gold vinyl, 5555 numbered CDs, and 25,000 black vinyl. These limited edition items are expected to be available through the official Daft Punk Shop.

Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem is reportedly one of the most sought after animations and so is a must watch for fans of anime or Daft Punk. The film will be screened globally on 12th December 2024 with tickets available to book online through the official website.
