An extended version of the 2016 anime film In This Corner of the World, known as In This Corner (and Other Corners) of the World, is now available to stream on Crunchyroll in the UK.
Animated by MAPPA, and directed by Sunao Katabuchi, In This Corner of the World is a wartime drama that follows Suzu’s everyday life during the war. The original cinematic version of the film was released in 2016 in Japan, and even had a UK Blu-Ray (and DVD) release by Manga Entertainment in 2017. This extended version of the film, which has never been released in the UK, was released in 2019 and adds nearly 30 minutes of additional footage.

The award-winning story of In This Corner of the World follows a young lady named Suzu Urano, who in 1944 moves to the small town of Kure in Hiroshima to live with her husband’s family. Her perseverance and courage underpin this heart-warming and inspirational tale of the everyday challenges faced by the Japanese in the midst of a violent, war-torn country. This beautiful yet poignant tale shows that even in the face of adversity and loss, people can come together and rebuild their lives.
