…Yeah, I think that sums it up.
Impressions:
I was aware of the death metal spastic opening that’s ADHD personified going into this, but… Actually, I have no idea what but should follow that because the episode was ironically exactly as I expected. But from the above and GoHands past works, what I expected was a juxtaposition of chaos and too much talking with over-animation problems throughout, and it certainly had all of those things. I’m not going to be mad at something that starts with death metal and restrains itself a mere couple minutes before going balls out to fight a giant alien robot though, even if most of the rest of the episode managed to be both pretty boring and incomprehensible. There was still the animation to gawk at, even in the “girls exist” portions of the show, particularly the one large-chested girl whose every little move made her chest bob and weave like a professional basketball player. Only matched by literally any one of their hair.
So it’s kind of the mess expected, but it does feel a bit more grounded than past GoHands things like K or that entire Hand Shakers debacle. Certainly the action animation is getting better, and it is worth repeating that any two minutes of this episode probably had more budget and effort thrown into it than the entire rest of the season thus far combined. So even if it’s a mess, it’s one with far more interesting issues so far. Can’t say at all if we’re going the ultra melodrama route where the amnesia girl is secretly a monster or something or they’re going to start getting picked off, though the next episode preview does have one of them all snot and teary, or if it’s going to stay more or less brainless and fluffy with occasional bouts of high explosions the whole way, but I’ll take a hundred of these if it means just a few less cheat power reincarnations in RPG worlds.
