MVM Entertainment to Release Chained Soldier, Kamisama Kiss & Urusei Yatsura (Remake) on Blu-Ray in the UK

MVM Entertainment have kick-started the new year by announcing on social media that they will release Chained Soldier (Season 1), Kamisama Kiss (Season 1 & 2), and Urusei Yatsura (Remake) on Blu-Ray in the UK.

Unfortunately MVM Entertainment have not provided any specific details about these releases, but we do know that Kamisama Kiss will be released as a Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray containing both seasons, and that Season 1 of the series will also be available individually on Blu-Ray. Previously MVM Entertainment released both seasons of Kamisama Kiss on DVD, but only the second season was treated to a Blu-Ray release in the UK.

The Chained Soldier (Season 1): In a world where only women can gain superpowers, Yuuki Wakura seemed doomed to a boring future working in secondary and caretaker positions. Then fate literally changes his world, pulling him into the monster-filled Mato dimension, where he’s rescued by the dominating Kyouka Uzen, whose ability temporarily gives Yuuki incredible power… at the cost of transforming him into her inhuman slave! Stunned at Yuuki’s strength when transformed, Kyouka decides to bind Yuuki to herself permanently… which he’s all too willing to do. Until it turns out that she also expects him to serve her all-female combat unit as maid and servant, even when he’s not fighting as her personal CHAINED SOLDIER!

Kamisama Kiss (Season 1): Nanami was just a normal high school girl down on her luck until a stranger’s lips marked her as the new Land God and turned her world upside down. Now, she’s figuring out the duties of a deity with the help of Tomoe, a reformed fox demon who reluctantly becomes her familiar in a contract sealed with a kiss. The new responsibilities – and boys – are a lot to handle, like the crow demon masquerading as a gorgeous pop idol and the adorable snake spirit who’s chosen the newly minted god to be his bride. As the headstrong Tomoe tries to whip her into shape, Nanami finds that love might just have cute, pointed fox ears. With romance in the air, will the human deity be able to prove herself worthy of her new title?

Kamisama Kiss (Season 2): Momozono Nanami (Mimori) was just a normal teenage girl who struggled with normal teenage problems, but her life was turned upside down when she was touched by the lips of a stranger. Now marked the new Land God, Nanami must figure out her responsibilities and learn to trust no one and suspect everyone. In this series, Nanami starts to doubt her own abilities as a Land God and is conflicted over her feelings for her familiar, Tomoe (Tachibana). The episodes are: ‘I’ve Started the ‘Being a God’ Thing Again’, ‘The God Goes to Izumo’, ‘The God Falls Into the Netherworld’, ‘The God Races Across the Netherworld’, ‘The God Makes Her Second Romantic Confession’, ‘The God Meets a Little Tengu’, ‘The God Goes to Mount Kurama’, ‘The God Sneaks In’, ‘The God Is Blindsided’, ‘The God Receives a Romantic Confession’, ‘The God Goes Back to Being a Child’ and ‘The God Receives a Marriage Proposal’.

Urusei Yatsura (Remake): Ataru Moroboshi is known for his incredibly bad luck, so when alien invaders challenge a random human to battle for the future of the Earth, guess who they pick? But to everyone’s shock, unlucky Ataru inexplicably manages to defeat his beautiful, electrically charged, and bikini-clad opponent, Lum — and in the process, he mistakenly convinces her he wants her hand in marriage! Given that Ataru’s still chasing after his old girlfriend (and just about any other attractive girl he meets), this means a new war of the worlds is just beginning in the the all-new URUSEI YATSURA.

This is just an assumption (and speculation) on my part, but I expect that the Blu-Ray releases of Kamisama Kiss will use the same disc masters as those used by FUNimation. The Chained Soldier and Urusei Yatsura (Remake) meanwhile will most likely use the same disc masters as those used by Sentai Filmworks. If so, then Urusei Yatsura (Remake) could be released as a Complete Series Collection, just like it was in America, which saw both Season 1 & 2 in a single set.

For the time being we will just have to wait and see, but it is great to see more titles heading to Blu-ray in the UK in the near future.
