Like yesterday, there are a ton of new shows today, plus Apothecary Diaries restarts, and I’ll at least glance at the hotel and golf things. Gonna get through two at a time, so it’ll be a little bit before I take a whack at probably the other two fantasy things, though both the not-really-mystery things are up already I see.
Impressions:
I believe the scientific nomenclature for this is waifu dreck. Unabashed wish fulfilment of a milquetoast nothing of a protagonist having a hot girl throw themselves at him, literally, for his indomitable ability to exist. She has a few scenes of being naked, reminding us of what fanservice anime used to be, and otherwise just fawns over the protagonist and his ability to… make generic lunchboxes and show her the towering majesty of Japan, which is unfortunately not an analogy for his dick, but if it was, that absolutely would’ve improved things.
I’ve also already made more jokes in this paragraph than existed in the episode, in case you might think the humor would carry it. No. Its version of a joke is “I accidentally typo’d my name when entering it on the status screen, so my fantasy name has a typo in it. Please laugh.” The rest is just naked elves, but not too naked because this is 2025, and listening to a boring dude go over the same goddamned travel to an RPG world premise as has already been done ten other times this season alone. My god. We all understand what fantasy is. When getting isekai’d back to feudal Japan was a thing, we rarely had to sit through a ten minute lecture on the concept of the feudal system or samurai. But this is what fantasy is now. Even trashy fanservice fantasy.
