Cinema listings at various UK cinema chains, including ODEON, VUE, and Savoy, have revealed that the Extended Cut version of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, which added 20-minutes of additional footage to the original 2013 film, will screen in UK cinemas on 1st and 2nd March 2025 for a 2-day cinematic event.
This version of the film, which (theoretically) has never been screened in cinemas, is being distributed by POM ANIME (in partnership with TOEI Animation) across the UK with both dubbed and subbed screenings being offered at various cinema chains. It’s also worth noting that POM ANIME have helped distribute films such as SWORD ART ONLINE PROGRESSIVE, SPY x FAMILY CODE: White, and My Hero Academia: World Heroes Missions into cinemas across Europe.
Synopsis: Following the events from the Dragon Ball Z television series, after the defeat of Majin Buu, a new power awakens and threatens humanity… Beerus, an ancient and powerful God of Destruction, searches for Goku after hearing rumours of the Saiyan warrior who defeated Frieza. Realizing the threat Beerus poses to their home planet, the Z-Fighters must find a way to stop him before it’s too late. Only Goku, humanity’s last hope, can ascend to the level of a legendary Super Saiyan God and stop Beerus from destroying Earth, and possibly the entire universe!
While Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods did receive a limited cinema release across the UK more than a decade ago it wasn’t this extended cut of the film. This extended cut was only included in the Blu-Ray (and DVD) release of the film, of which was released back in 2014 by Manga Entertainment. Last year Bandai Namco America did partner with Fathom Events in the US to give the film a 2-day event as well.
If you’ve yet to see Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods on the big screen, then this is the perfect chance to do so, as dubbed and subbed screenings will be available on 1st and 2nd March 2025. Tickets are also currently available to book online through the various cinema chains, such as ODEON, VUE and Savoy.
