I don’t think this is how Cinderella goes.
Impressions:
I continue to be more interested in this show for what it could have been rather than what it’s actually accomplished. This episode could’ve been a very good comparison to the previous one where neither of the ‘suspects’ were at fault and Osoto stirred the pot while Neko smoothed things over. In this case, one of the two was a stalker who ended up there from a botched attempted kidnapping/murder. Not that I think there was no possible redemption for her, or that Osoto again driving her to kill herself makes him a good guy, but it certainly COULD have made a good juxtaposition that Neko’s approach in the face of an actual deranged sociopath is naive and potentially dangerous for the innocent.
I can’t say that the mystery itself is getting any better. There was at least a couple twists and turns in how things played out, but on the other hand, I’m not convinced that they actually know the story of Cinderella. Part of the ‘mystery’ being solved was revealing that the guy played a farmer, which is not exactly a thing that Cinderella is known for having. Could’ve at least been one of the mice. A very, very large mouse. Similarly, it’s weird that they claim one of the two lovebirds must be in an affair, and both jump to the idea that he was cheating on her rather than with her, even going as far to point out that she’s not married. The lack of an actual mystery is bad enough even before all the bizarre leaps in logic or referenced cultural things being nonsensical.
