And since it’s an idol bit, it has to suck. Not just regularly suck. No, we can’t have that for idols. It has to EXTRA suck. And so we get an entire goddamned multiple episode arc around… the same goddamned idol thing ever. She’s perfection. Everybody is a superfan and wants nothing more than to hear her sing. All she ever wants or wanted is to sing for her fans. It was that nasty society that gave her an eating and substance disorder, but being an idol and the idol industry? That’s just amazing stardom and everybody needs to appreciate their passion. I’m with the briefcase-head dude here. Eat the rich and famous.
I think the whole thing is made worse by Neko’s unabashed fandom and blind spot for the entire thing, though certainly her going on a tour through the side characters to needle them and then wonder why they’re pissed off at her instead of just wrapping up this stupid idol stuff didn’t help either her character or the second half of this episode. Nor did getting to the end and her take on the whole thing being “an idol concert here would be so cool!” No. No it wouldn’t. …Which means that we’re 100% getting one next week, doesn’t it?
