Idols suck.
Impressions:
…Yep, the whole thing was just an excuse to pitch some damn singles. It walks through every character and each one in turn unceremoniously goes “Oh, anyway, my stuff’s resolved, bye.” First, sax boy, who just shrugs and agrees to start playing sax again. Then we have a concert. Then the business guy reveals that he resented idols because his girlfriend was obsessed with them, and honestly, while sure, don’t be an ass about things your loved ones love even if you don’t get it yourself is valid advice, she was interrupting him trying to talk to her to fangirl out, so she was being a huge ass as well and I’m not on board with the message of “We should always respect insane rabid idol fandom.”
And so we finally come to the idol herself, whose face falls off to reveal the same face. Because she let the pressure get to her and was pretending to be herself so much that it mentally broke her, when all she needed was to be her true idol self, because that’s what a true idol is and what she always was all along. Gag me with a fork. Even the serial killer in their midst apparently declared a cease fire to faff around and support this idol crap. Move on. Put it behind us. Go back to Iago-ing some people into stabbings and defenestration.
