At least the episode did indeed get weird.
Impressions:
I was fully prepared to just post “Yep, another one of these” and move on, but then things took a bit of a turn. See, Red here only cares about boxing, and is only here because… he wants a magic fix for an eye injury. Which going to art school will help somehow? And is there because he has the spirit of Beethoven. Are we confused yet? Anyway, Blue took offense to music being disrespected, so he challenged him to a fight. A music fight. And so they took an elevator from their castle into the music fight basement, where they used their cellphones to activate the magical organ, which is a holodeck that turns emotion into a group hallucination. Red then used that to sing about boxing and punch out everybody in the audience.
So, yeah, in the final few minutes, it took a bit of a turn. Like it wanted to be like Revue Starlight, that weird show about magical girl idols who fought in a basement at the behest of a magical giraffe, but didn’t want to commit all the way. To being Revue Starlight, I mean. Revue Starlight also didn’t want to commit to its giraffe god worship. Before then, it was just weird, but a pretty generic boy band thing. Even the giant castle for a school campus isn’t that unusual. Worth watching if you’re not into corny-ass boy band shows with godawful CGI? Gods no. Weird is still not good, but it was an unexpected car crash to gawk at.
