Witch Watch #01 — Loud Noises

…Yet again.

Site’s still constantly on fire despite assurances that actually, things are fixed except for some rare issues. Third goddamned week of this. Not sure if opening a new ticket daily will help, but willing to try.

Impressions:

It’s certainly a Jump comedy. You want sudden, abrupt overreactions as your joke? Well, ya got that. And not a whole lot of anything else. At least it goes at a sort of healthy clip, spending only about five minutes on any singular gag, but that’s still at least four more minutes than it needs to, and it’s not like this is an intensely character or story driven episode either. Or the gags are anything more than some light puns. Puns which can be yelled at or about, which is where the real humor lies, apparently.

When the jokes are only to the level of going “BWAAAAGH!?” or namecalling that somebody looks like an animal, that’s not a joke. That’s the lowest level of passive invective that I’d expect in casual discourse on the internet. It’s not offensive, like certain other shows this season that I could certainly name, but it’s still a supposed comedy that only annoys. I would want to see the character actually grow or develop, not be told that they did so. You can do a lot in even just a few minutes, let alone twenty. Or cleverness in the dialogue. Or substance to their interactions. If it wants to be a gag comedy, there are jokes besides namecalling and going “BWAAAAGH”, because at that point, you may as well just watch the Minions.
