Not really trying very hard here, are we?
Impressions:
If you long for the ancient days of obnoxious sister-based harems, then good news. It’s exactly as it appears. Most of the episode is spent going through all the obnoxious tropes. Idiot. Pervert. Yelling overreaction. Blushing and squirming that actually they’re okay with it. Stumbling over underwear. Declaring that this is totally not a cliche harem comedy *wink wink*. Wandering naked into the bath b-b-b-b-but it’s okay if you stay. Now let’s stand in a line and list our archetypes. She’s the brainy one. And here’s the tsundere one. And here’s the shy one. Now the sporty one. And here’s the older one. Look at how their boobs bounce. I’m not a pervert, he protests, with his eyes glued to their chests and thinking about whether or not they’ve started their periods.
Harems are fine. Bad cliches are fine. Archetypes are fine. Well, not fine, but cliches are cliches for a reason. But you still have to actually do something with them. You have to tell a story. Or some jokes. Jokes that aren’t yelling PERVERT. I have watched plenty of godawful harem romcoms in the past, and enjoyed quite a few. But this is just serving up those bad cliches from 20 years ago and calling it a day. Nobody is lamenting the disappearance of the Sister Princess kinds of shows. I still don’t even know how that was an entire thing, as an entire island of international sister brides seems like a cult fever dream.
