Everything must always lead back to high school.
Impressions:
Still not the most interesting episode, and not much liking that it seems like we’re completely abandoning the original premise of revenge against the rangers or their hypocrisy for a good while. The whole conceit that he was able to fit in with a highly regimented paramilitary force’s rules and regulations but can’t even make it a couple hours at high school is also veering into Flanderization territory. It’s just not a good nor fitting gag, especially when it happens off-screen and they then explain what the joke was that we didn’t actually see. Further emphasis that current anime humor is not a joke happening, but people overreacting to finding out that something happened.
At least the story is progressing though, something I can’t say for some other shows. Time loop school every time you break the rules, or just at random, with people being apparently brainwashed, again, not the most unique story. There’s also only two unique new characters here since the punk guy immediately shows up and we get told that he too has been a long time ally and was never suspicious at all. But even any swerve that it’s actually the nervous kid as the big baddie was already spoiled by Evil Man At Desk already being revealed. So even the mystery of the school isn’t particularly mysterious.
