Crunchyroll, in partnership with Sony Pictures UK and Aniplex, have announced that the highly successful Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train will be returning to UK cinemas on 14th May 2025, except this time it will be presented in 4K resolution at participating cinemas.
As a reminder Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train is a feature-length continuation to the first Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- arc and brought the Mugen Train Arc to the big screen. The film was previously shown in cinemas across the UK (and the world) and became a a global phenomenon earning over $470 million globally at the box office and becoming the #1 film worldwide in 2020. Following on from its cinematic success the Mugen Train Arc was then adapted into a seven-episode TV anime series, featuring new and extended scenes not shown in the film, before the third arc (Entertainment District Arc) was released. Both the film and TV series can also be streamed on Crunchyroll in the UK.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train is directed by Haruo Sotozaki featuring the original story by Koyoharu Gotoge with screenplay and animation production by studio ufotable. Set after the events of the television series, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train has Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke embark on a new mission. Together with one of the most powerful swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps, Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, they investigate the mysterious disappearance of over 40 people aboard the Mugen Train.
This cinematic re-release of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train will be shown in both dubbed and subbed formats on 14th May 2025, with tickets becoming available to book online from 30th April 2025 in the UK. The film will also be shown in 4K resolution at participating cinemas, which will be a first for the Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- franchise.
As a reminder the latest installment into the franchise, known as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, will also be available in UK cinemas from 12th September 2025. Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train is also available on Blu-ray in the UK alongside the individual arcs of the series.
