Fans of mystery-romance visual novels, and those that enjoyed Mystery Lover: Nonexistent Summer, will be interested to know that its sequel, Mystery Lover 2: Forgotten Truth, will be making its way digitally to the Nintendo Switch on 29th May 2025.
Published globally by Cyberisle, and developed by the Chinese developer Never Knows Best, Mystery Lover 2: Forgotten Truth is a visual novel that puts players in the perspective of Leed as he works with friends to uncover the mystery that they find themselves within. Unlike the first game, which saw Reed develop a relationship with Persephone and attempt to solve her disappearance, this second game will see players make choices between two female relationships and overcome the obstacles they create.
About: Upon arriving in Riverville, Leed must find the truth within the chaos and deception, and he must also make a choice between two girls. As autumn gives way to winter, what secrets lie beneath the thick layer of snow covering the city…?
At this moment in time i’m not sure if Mystery Lover 2: Forgotten Truth, otherwise known in as Lian’ai Qitan ~Bu Cunzai de Zhenxiang~ in China, is a sequel or an alternative story set within similar characters. I suggest this as the characters that appeared in the first game are here in this second game, but they have different names. This could be a localisation choice (as the original game did have poor English localisation), but I guess we will find out once the game releases.
As a reminder I explored the first game last year (which you can read here) and despite a few issues, such as poor English localisation and difficulty progressing through the true ending, I enjoyed what the game had to offer. So, naturally I am looking forward to seeing what this title has to offer. In the meantime Mystery Lover 2: Forgotten Truth is scheduled to be released on 29th May 2025 and will be priced at £11.50 / $12.99, with the game itself described as a visual novel having four different endings with fully voiced lines-of-dialogue within the game.
