A mushroom makes for a weird battlesuit design.
Impressions:
For some reason, I feel like everybody kind of gave up on making this episode… work, but it wasn’t until after they had called a bunch of voice actors and animators and asked them to put together half of a Dragonball fight scene by the way it abruptly stops and I guess they took the rest of the fight to the opposite side of the planet and nobody at the hotel noticed all the explosions. Same for the special ED. It’s… there, and I honestly couldn’t tell you why, as there’s not any gag around it, and it comes out of nowhere. I suspect that’s meant to be the gag. Aren’t we random? Not really. I’ve watched Pani Poni Dash, Galaxy Angel, Muromi, pieces of Pop Team Epic. True comedic chaos isn’t just doing a random one-off thing once per episode.
Again, just like the previous episode, it feels like they completely forgot to write the jokes. The ‘evil’ alien looks like a cat, and the kid tanuki keeps saying it must be love, but… that’s a non-sequitur at best. She could be suspicious that he was a vampire and it would’ve been the same joke and made as much sense. Abandoning the whole “X is an alien/tanuki and it does alien/tanuki” thing is good, but you gotta replace it with something else, and the Ginyu Squad out of nowhere for two minutes of a random referential fight scene is… I guess better than nothing, but I still don’t understand why.
