Man, the comedies this season are really making a run for the bottom, aren’t they?
Impressions:
The creatives, after having been allowed a couple minutes to do something with the visuals last week, were locked back in the closet for the horny perverts to get their turn. After last week traded on its single joke of not realizing that it’s a robot, along comes this week where it’s Satoko being clumsy and useless, but with ‘comically’ large boobs. That’s the joke. What if her boobs were huge. That way, we can still do all the same things, but constantly zoom in on them, make boinging sounds, and have her announce “Oh golly gee, my boobs are so big.”
We all know I’m old. Not so much to have experienced things like Eiken at the time, but enough that they were still vaguely in the zeitgeist enough that I was aware of them to gawk at in horror or horniness, depending. And all the various giant boob related slapstick jokes that came with them. And those had more creativity, effort, and humor put into them than this episode did. Even down to “you’re standing out.” Yeah, you made that joke before. About her being dressed as a ninja. You changed literally nothing and are trying to use all the same non-jokes again. Oh, but there’s a Megaman 2 title screen reference. Gee. Episode salvaged then.
