Just didn’t feel like animating this week, huh?
Impressions:
This is without a doubt the absolute worst episode of this show so far, and not even for the stuff about global warming that manages to be both comically heavy handed and completely downplay it as something that doesn’t actually matter at all. They have some thingy that has a bunch of coordinates to old islands that are now sunk, so it’s time to go diving. And… we get a montage of them dressing down to bathing or scuba suits and… diving. That’s it. That’s the whole episode. They don’t find jack, as usual. There’s no over the top martial arts or parkour scenes. Hell, there’s thing one lady introduced *checks* about four minutes into the episode, who then vanishes until literally the final few seconds so she can walk up on the blonde protagonist. That’s how little happened in the intervening 16 minutes of the episode. What it’s trying to use as a cliffhanger is a non-sequitur that was introduced at the start of the episode.
I could spend the second paragraph talking about stuff… the show, I mean, which I gave up this week as it has completely abandoned its original premise and is now just tourism and food with an episode where they go around taking pictures of uh… round rocks. These things. And then for the second half, curry. What’s next week going to be? Looking at various tanuki statues and eating ramen? Probably. Maybe next week, I’ll just ramble incoherently about Pieberry instead.
