This isn’t exactly anime, games, manga or light novel news, but it is rather interesting news for any budding novelists out there, as KADOKAWA have partnered with qdopp Inc. and MyAnimeList Co., Ltd. to launch a new writing contest, known MyAnimeList x Honeyfeed Writing Contest 2025, in hopes of finding the next best isekai light novel.
This contest aims to discover fresh talent who can craft stories with the potential to stand alongside industry-defining titles like Overlord, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, The Rising of the Shield Hero, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and Sword Art Online. As an added bonus, the contest features a special guest in the jury panel: Aneko Yusagi, writer of The Rising of the Shield Hero. Winners even receive personalized feedback from this renowned and experienced Isekai author, an incredible chance to gain insight directly from one of the most successful storytellers in the genre.
The actual contest will begin on 7th July 2025, where entrants will have until 29th September 2025 to submit their novel on to Honeyfeed, and then from 30th September 2025 until 15th December 2025 the submitted stories will be judged by both a panel and the public. The grand prize will be $5,000 in addition to having the story published by KADOKAWA as a light novel (pending approval) while two runner-ups will receive $3,000 wit the possibility of the story being published as a light novel. The winners from the contest will be announced during February 2026.
Further details relating to the writing contest, including eligibility requirements, can be found on the official microsite. In the meantime the contest is scheduled to begin from 7th July 2025.
