I think I’d rather watch the fake sentai thing.
The first of eight premieres today, one of which (this one) is a two episode deal, plus To Be Hero in the evening, so expect breaks/gaps while I wander off to keep myself sane. I think I’ll get to the second episode of this a little later, because I suspect I’ll need a break from… worse things.
Impressions:
Not the most exciting start. Comparing it to something like Summer Time Rendering, which was also a relatively dull tour through the harem, that one did a much better job at creating a forboding atmosphere, and more importantly, ended with a series of bloody stabbings, which is a significantly stronger hook than really loud dramatic music kicking in about thirty seconds before anything actually happens. And what happened is a fire. A fire right over there. That they’ll be confronting next episode, which is at least immediately, but pales in comparison to a clone monster of one of your paramours getting all stabby on everybody.
Not much other than the dude and his harem are introduced this episode though. At least he’s not the obnoxious yelly kind of protagonist, nor endless narrating about every little thing happening in front of him, but he’s not too interesting here either. Just the throwback light snark kind of dude. I can at least see him improving, since the main problem was, again, jack-squat happening. The greatest adversities thus far were aggressive fanboys and an overly aggressive horny relative. He met the moments, but those aren’t much, and the space in between those didn’t have much going on like humor to make the rest entertaining. Just the normal cliche harem in their normal cliche cosplay.
