Impressions:
Loud noise time continues, and it’s taking me a bit to endure these. Both from the overreaction yelling, and the awful writing. They built a giant wall to keep the disgusting trash people out, but also, there are gates everywhere to allow free passage back and forth with nothing but the social pressure to keep the poors on their side of the wall. And so that rich bullies can go on field trips to find insecure trash people to pick on. As happens in city slums. A place where rich folks infamously love to go and hang out because all the locals are cowed due to their societal superiority. Same with the innocent girls looking for a poor boy to dote on.
So the premise is far from sensical, which is why we spend a very long time on it, broken up only when the main character meets one of those rich girls so he can make faces and yell at her. Eventually someone gets stabbed, he’s framed, and the mob drops him into the big ultra mega trash hole, trashier than the slums he was in before, and full of mons–oops, episode’s over. I’ve seen shows with more or less the same premise get to this point in the first two minutes so that they could actually show off the monster fighting and trash based super powers, but that ain’t the pacing here. We have to appreciate this setting for an entire episode before leaving it. Hooray.
