At least she’s good at shooters.
Impressions:
The whole premise is that she’s English and he’s Japanese, but that also doesn’t matter when he apparently lives in the most ridiculous bubble imaginable. He has zero idea what Valentines is or is about, as if he’s never heard of the holiday at all. There are literally posters of it everywhere. He wonders out loud if “thank you” might mean the same thing as “sankyu”. He plays games with English in them and there are signs in English all over the background, but the language is a total mystery. He uses the worst machine translation in the world, and yet that’s also as far as he’s going to look up anything about Valentines. Are we seriously doing this bit? She’s not much better, as she constantly does the same overreaction every time she sees him despite knowing it’s him, but we don’t have to listen to her internal prattling and instead just suffer all the anxious faces she makes.
Girl makes faces ends up being the only draw here. Any humor from their inability to understand each other is strangled in the crib by them, mainly him, being complete imbeciles who would probably have failed to understand anything if she was speaking Japanese. Shy girl blushes and makes panicked face is something you get literally everywhere in almost every show. At least the rock thing has some extra animation and I guess if you’re deep into rocks. Yeah, she blushes a lot, and there’s only a moderate amount of overreaction and yelling, so it absolutely could be so much worse, but it flubs what it wants to be its unique selling point so absurdly painfully.
