Are they serious with this?
Impressions:
Ah yes, a hotel catering exclusively to noble and upstanding assassins. That lures in unhonorable criminals to murder them, but only at the behest of the good ones. The premise is bonkers, and that extends to the story of the week. A dude and his sister were sold, but the Yakuza guy was all “A two for one? Nah. I only want one, but I’m willing to pay to give this second one a good life for twenty years if you let me train you.” You know, because he’s an honorable mass murdering criminal. That alone is already idiotic, but hey, we montage to 20 years later and some upstart has taken over and wants to just kill everybody because why not? And they find out that his sister had already died because the guy says that they got the latest proof-of-life message, but every proof of life message so far has been a specific lullaby, and that lullaby only has 19 verses, therefore she must be dead. Because the first thing you always do is shoot the hostage. And if you thought that wasn’t stupid enough yet, while living as the hostage to Yakuza, she managed to secretly get married, secretly have a baby, and secretly care for it for the last five or six years and her daughter likes to hang out at her grave and also sing that lullaby.
This was just dumb on every level, not even counting the hotel girl’s ability to teleport and dodge in mid air. Gritty realism to start with into outright Dragonball crap, but don’t think for a moment that means that any of it was well animated. Her little bonks barely looked like they’d stun a pomeranian, but made every dude’s eyes immediately roll back in their heads. Terrible script, extremely poor animation, awful premise. I’m exhausted. The weekend marathon of premieres is over. I’d say I need a nap, but I kind of already had one during this.
