That chicken was cooked for like three minutes.
Impressions:
Quirky girl suddenly gets really into hobby. Nowhere near as animated nor as charming as the rock version of this, and despite the whole walk in on her changing and then trip and mount her bit, nowhere near as much fanservice, not from lack of trying. But still an ungodly amount of unnecessary narration from the word go. “I am a regular middle aged dude, riding the bus. The bus takes me from the city to the woods. The woods is far away from the city. I prefer to be away from the city and in the woods.” Holy christ. Was any of this even slightly needed at all or are we talking just because there’s empty space? If the point is to sell the atmosphere of camping, listening to a dude blather over it nonstop is ruining that even before the over-excited teenager shows up and the overreactions begin.
It was not one of the better hobby/activity shows in any case. Both characters are a bit annoying, and it just runs through all the same tropes and cliches that every single one of these do without anything distinguishing of its own. There’s a little more emphasis on food and making orgasm faces in reaction to tasting barely prepped half-cooked meat, but that’s also not unusual. He’s gruff. She’s quirky and a free spirit. He complains about how quirky she is when he just wants everything to be calm and peaceful, so his own monologue can fill the air instead of her voice. Hilarity.
