…Yeah, it was not an eventful episode.
Impressions:
These Tuesday originals are having a rough time engaging with their premises. Uneventful, pointless waste of twenty minutes. Unless, of course, you’re just here to see characters’ faces disappear when they’re far enough into the background. By that metric, it was amazing. It’s only the third episode, and we’ve completely lost the plot. Nothing happens. Nobody tries to do anything. But lets sit in a circle for the entire episode to recap events and be dramatic over it. I’m gonna leave! No, don’t. Okay. But I’m still going to sulk about it. Great talk. Good development for everybody.
Nor is it helped by either of the two new characters. One only shows up for approximately 20 seconds to wave a knife around for no good reason and then evaporates from the rest of the episode. Even the kid serving dinner had more screentime. The other is the extra quirky idiot savant who keeps appearing in all their ‘secret’ conversations to ooh and aah at things like glasses and candy which everybody else totally ignores. Is she supposed to be an idiot, or is everybody, even the kids half her just unbelievably learned and polite about everything? Good thing they still managed to crowbar ten seconds of bowling in. Mission accomplished.
