None of you did jack.
Impressions:
As usual, things would’ve flowed a lot better if it wasn’t constantly cutting away to the board room for info dumping exposition time. On the other hand, that’s where pretty much all of the ostensibly interesting plot points happened. Well, the entire scientist team was assassinated, and they took all their files with them, and when a bunch of people are murdered by powerful organizations, the other powerful organizations take that as a sign to give up, apparently, but as far as asinine threads of logic in this series, that’s very, very far from the worst. Funnily, Johnny and E-Soul’s fight was almost totally sidelined despite this supposedly being his arc. Though Queen and Cyan showed up to deus ex machina things anyway after letting all the normies die, so nobody of this entire extended arc really had a good climax moment despite the extra dramatic music playing. And then I guess simply wandered off? They all gave up and went home? That’s how this fight ends? I think you missed a few beats here.
On the other, other, other hand, the revelations aren’t all that interesting either, or are too inane to feel like anything besides non-sequiturs. Fear and trust are literally the same thing and all the powerful CEOs want to keep abusing them to stay powerful. That took up about 80% of the long side exposition time. The other 20% was that the original super trust/fear dude who tried to conquer the world is the evil(est) CEO’s dad, who he’s trying to revive/become, because nobody cares about moms in this show. It’s daddy issues or bust. He’s got a nice demonic shrine in the basement at any rate. I also continue to not like this retcon of Nice1, lest we forget that in episode 2 he was a struggling actor with a bestie/BF who got screwed over, but now he was ALWAYS a raging sociopathic cold blooded murderer for hire.
So, to sum up the last three arcs, everybody went somewhere. A bunch of random scientists died and so they gave up on everything. Two dudes had a meeting thousands of miles away. Everything important was in that meeting. Thank god we’re finally moving on.
