Everybody’s getting their super sayajin forms nowadays.
Impressions:
Looks like we’re getting the big budget back as we enter the homestretch, though aren’t we still missing the noir dog arc? Or maybe this goes for more episodes than I had thought I’d seen announced. Anyway, a very action packed episode, even if it still had the same characterization problems as before. Nice1 suddenly developing a conscience and being tormented by being the hitman for an evil rich guy still rings hollow right after his cold blooded attempt to murder an entire caravan of scientists. I honestly have no idea what they’re doing with this other guy. My power is I reflect anything you do to me, he declares as a way that he can vomit out Fear injected into him, and then proceeds to never use it nor does it come up in the fight ever again.
Which is also what I’d say was the thing keeping the episode from being truly great rather than just visual spectacle. There was no ebb or flow to the fight. A ton of animation, but lacking in character and story. In substance. Even if just banter. Everybody was just punching at each other until someone got a powerup, and went right back to it until deus ex somebody else showed up. Again. Also with a timestop. This is how we ended Nice1’s last fight too, guys. Meanwhile, he’s not just transformed into a demon, but can’t stop screaming at the top of his lungs about how everybody is garbage, which the adoring fans lap up, because that side of things in this show continue to be insane. Maybe they needed another shot of him naked in the cult room being caressed by his weird foster dad in front of his statue of his own dad. That would’ve surely helped.
