Alternate history steampunk WWI? Of course I will be watching this.
It was overall a really good show. But my main complaint is that the show’s attitude towards so many things felt very childish. You could tell it was based on a novel for young adults. Which may seem like an unfair complaint, seeing as I am not a young adult. But I don’t think media for young adults needs to dumb it down for them. This show certainly felt like it did.
All the bipedal mecha and the the sci fi animals were cool. Romance wasn’t terrible either. But the treatment of history was disappointing (the usual everyone else is racist and sexist but on an extremely superficial level, while our lead characters magically have modern enlightened thinking, plus very superficial treatment of so many historical issues and cultural differences).
