Oh boy. Idols.
Impressions:
An extra long idol segment that goes for two thirds of the episode. My favorite thing in the world ever. The production and variation was a little higher than the vampire show, I guess, and I can see the vision behind “we are enslaved to the idol industry and have to sell singles, so crowbar this crap in however we can.” If you can even call that a vision. But mostly, it was the same generic idol montage as ever. Oh, they say it’s streamers, but what are streamers now except a different flavor of idol? Particularly when they put on idol costumes and have a little concert. Not even really doing robot stuff. It seemed like they started out, but then the second Machina pops her head off, that’s apparently a full channel ban. I’d say I lost the thread here, but I was checked out of this freaking 15 minute segment about two minutes in.
The start was slightly better, but that’s saying little. Alma gets a static shock, and in anime fashion, this must be misunderstood to be a sign of poor health so here’s a training montage. But that doesn’t work, so it’s back to the old standby of awkward hugging. There were a few attempts at actual jokes, but wouldn’t it have been a lot funnier if she were to use her static powers for evil or one-ups-manship in their schtick rather than just a generic exercise montage? The premise and what followed don’t relate in any way.
