Boy, is there anything balls can’t do?
A two episode premiere, but unlike yesterday, actually two separate episodes, and there’s I think four other shows starting today. Five if you count a rebroadcast of the old episode 1 of the new Fate series. Also, this is terrible, so I’m not inclined to return to the second episode later.
Impressions:
I had low expectations, and it did not exceed them. The thing that leads him to realize that he can just use magic to create magic eyes is that while being taught to use water magic, his teacher says the ball is about the size of an eye. Then he triumphantly declares “Hey, wait, then I can use this to SEE!” The OP kicks in, and then things somehow get worse, because thinking he could never see was a psychological block on all his senses, and now he’s blown away by the sensory overload provided by… a lettuce sandwich. Which means it’s time for… random-ass historical exposition. About how there was a demon lord and hero. And doing things requires energy. But also makes you tired. Enthralling.
But that’s clearly not the draw of things. It’s the overly excited maid that follows him around, squealing in pleasure at every single thing that he does while doting on him hand and foot. Or his teacher who follows him around, squealing in pleasure at every single thing that he does while doting on him hand and foot. Or his child bride, who follows him around, squealing in pleasure at… you get the point. All of them have about thirty seconds where they lament what a sad boy he was for that minute at the start of the episode, and then it’s full speed worship ahead… for his ability to cast a single water ball spell and use that to completely decipher total understanding of all things. Through… water ball wibbly wobble. It was not an exciting episode.
And I’ll just quickly note that I glanced through the second episode, and it’s about him going to magic school, so we can sit through more exposition about magic tests, and he can be bullied by the token blonde prince. Also, add in a teacher to his harem. So I don’t think it’s necessary to cover that. While not an RPG, it’s quite terrible.
