Hell Teacher Nube #15 — Hot for Teacher

Is every episode going to involve time travel?

Semi-Impressions:

There’s not much on Wednesdays but kind of this and the Death Games show, and that one’s second episode was essentially a repeat of the first half of the first episode, simply with a different set of girls so they could do intros again. I’ve already given up on Mondays, and Friday and Sunday are looking bad though, so things are getting poor enough for Nube to feel tolerable again. That’s how it gets you.

That said, this was a pretty weak episode too. This season is really struggling with second episodes. There’s some sky-pouch yokai thing, but it’s really just an excuse for an origin story flashback. Except Nube’s origin story is that he had a teacher who was just like him, except more popular. Which was also more than a bit awkward since she was all over him like an octopus, but it’s not like he did anything in particular that got her killed that would lead to guilt, or a particular drive to live up to her. She just protected him from… uh… some random evil snake. It literally just does a static-smash cut and now he’s being snaked. I’m not sure it even had a proper name. Which was such a dangerous monster of the week that she had to sacrifice herself. So now he carries on her will.

The skeleton’s there, but there’s no meat on the bones. She’s boringly perfect, existing only to sacrifice herself. He’s boringly faultless here, only there to honor and very nearly celebrate her sacrifice. A little pathos wouldn’t hurt. Anime almost always takes it too far, but I don’t think a thumbs up from beyond the grave strikes the right chord here either, especially when ya’ll have a habit of releasing murderous demons into the wild with a shrug and a wave.
