The poor second episodes will continue.
Oh, right. This was a Thursday show after the Saturday special premiere. I did know that, and then forgot. Also a long episode, but only by about three extra minutes this time, plus skipping the OP (well, OP as ED).
Impressions:
Maybe not entirely fair since the first was double length, and this wasn’t that bad, just very boring. There was a very, very bizarre stretch of animation about two thirds through. Ironically, right after a pretty half-assed action scene against some random centipedes. That was just grunting and then stills/explosions. But after that, it seems like the animators woke up and decided the next two or three minutes needed to be weirdly fluid as everybody was bouncing around. Then it was time to look at not-food and, weirdly for anime, the budget went back to its standard mediocre level. Yes, quibbling over weirdness in the production was the most exciting thing of the first 20 minutes of the episode.
They went to a mine. But not just any mine. …No, wait. A lot of breath is spilled over how it is just any mine, but it can’t just be any mine, because there must be something up or they wouldn’t be here. Then some zombies, which get the same treatment as the centipedes. Weirdly, the pompous mustache dude is probably the most interesting, not to mention likeable, character of this lot. A lunatic, but he’s the one spurring the others to do the right thing with his own array of flamethrowers and eagerness to use them. More pyromaniac knight errants, please.
