Sentenced to be a Hero #03 — Flamethrowers in Mines

That seems unwise and unsafe.

Impressions:

Significantly better than last week in just about every respect, though I wish that they could flatten out the animation quality. At least there were plenty of moments where it looked good this week, but it oscillated wildly between overly fluid animation, speedlines on stills, and janky CGI centipedes undulating in the background on an inconsistent framerate. I feel like if they consolidated that effort into three solid straight minutes, you’d have a sequence that’d really blow people away. Well, you’d probably want to excise all the jank too.

That said, there isn’t a ton to talk about. The big monster showed up, and then they beat it. No twists or turns to be found. It was just some tree. Once again, the delusional king dude was the star attraction, inspiring people and saving the day through personal sacrifice. I’m less impressed by the goddess’s own bit about how suicidal she is and so it’s his duty to protect her from herself. That should’ve been more contrasted between them since they’re both doing the self-sacrifice schtick, but they didn’t interact at all. I’m not sure either acknowledged the other’s existence even.
