Nearly ten months on since Anime Limited (All The Anime) announced its acquisition for cinema (and home video) release in the UK and it’s now been officially confirmed by Anime Limited that The Last Blossom will receive a UK and Ireland cinema release on the 27th March 2026. The film will be screened at participating locations in Japanese with English subtitles.
The Last Blossom is an anime film animated by CLAP Animation Studio (Pompo the Cinephile), and is the original feature debut from director Baku Kinoshita and writer Kazuya Konomoto. The film also made its world premiere at Annecy last summer.
Synopsis: “What a pathetic life it’s been.”
An elderly inmate serving a life sentence awaits a lonely death in his solitary cell—until a voice calls out to him. It belongs to a balsam flower, Housenka, that speaks like a human.
Through their “conversation”, the old man begins to reflect on the life he’s led.
The Last Blossom will be screened in cinemas across the UK and Ireland from 27th March 2026 with further details, such as screening locations and ticket availability, to be listed at a later date at participating cinemas.
