At least the right part of the episode got the budget.
Impressions:
And here it was looking like the entire episode was going to be spent in meetings. With his extended harem. Still, it was entirely setup. We get the new mission, bodyguarding and bait, a quickie tour through a few extra members of his harem, a deadpan nun and a jealous dragon rider with a weirdly deep voice, and then it’s time to go on a date with the primary harem. It was… not an enthralling first sixteen minutes of the episode.
Thankfully, at least once the stabbings started, they didn’t stop, and a pair of new antagonists managed to make their way into the introductions as well. It did have the funny thing going where the important baddies had ten times the amount of detail into their art and animation. Not sure I can say the same about the writing. They’re chatty, to say the least, which makes all the times they say “stop talking so much” all the more irritating. It was also a little hard to tell what was meant to be stylized action and what was intended to be supernatural, because the dude has elastic arms, warps his body, etc, but it’s his resistance to fire and Teoritta’s spidey sense that are their supposed only clues that he might be a monster-dude. At least the angry lady could be explained by only a goofy weapon, also of a zillion swords.
