At least that’s different.
Impressions:
I’ll say at least this. The OP being rapping off certainly caught me by surprise. I can’t help but wonder what the production decision that went into it is. Are the people who watch this generic slop big into rap? Or is perhaps the pop star they’re trying to push an incredibly bad singer? Or maybe I died and it’s the 90s again. It’s a nice distraction from the episode itself, where the big twist on the reincarnated-as-a-doomed-villainess formula is that it’s her own fanfiction instead of somebody else’s. …That’s it.
I guess another thing that surprises me is that when I was looking up stuff on it, it seemed to be self-aware that this stuff was poorly written cliche-filled tripe, but very little of that was here. Instead, she laments that she should have realized that her characters were real people and treasured them more. Which… uh… not a chain of logic I really understand. It is a bit better animated and more expressive than most other things of its ilk, so maybe that’s enough to make it stand out. As the like sixth of these this season, and probably the twenty fourth of the year, that she’s the author of her own story as the sole twist on *waves hands* everything, and just doing the usual schtick of overexplaining all the tropes so that it can then declare that they’re the tropes with a funny face as the joke, I’m long past over it.
