Impressions:

A bit better than last week, thanks in large part to the action scene not having its pacing shot in the face by sixteen paragraphs of unneeded exposition. The animation was still somewhere between poor and embarrassing, but everybody shut up and slashed at things. I wouldn’t say the same about the first third of the episode, which was the over-long obligatory actual recruitment. It’s a foregone conclusion, so let’s just get on with it instead of eight minutes doing recap and exposition.

Though as I write here, I’m not really sure the point of the character-specific half-episode either. It was very filler. Palatable, since we’re early and being introduced to her, I guess, but the kind of thing that’s bland time waster now that will likely become the norm and get really boring really fast if they do it for each one. A bit more substance or some kind of actual life lesson there would’ve helped a lot. It does seem a little odd that they’re not involving his buddies more, especially since there’s three of each and they all pair up in typing pretty obviously. I find their teasing and casual corruption of the kids far more fun than his dynamic of them so far, especially as they’re steering pretty wide of anything fanservicey or romantic between any of them. Well, mostly.
