Was Nube really beaten up by a zombie with a stick?
Impressions:
This episode took a bit of a turn. Multiple turns. How these kids aren’t going to need therapy is beyond me. The monster of the week is the seven misaki, a group of ghosts who kill people to free themselves whose spirits then become the replacement. In this iteration, that’s changed a bit to them being cursed ne’er do wells, out to replace the ones who got run over. Which you’d think was once again the misplaced vengeance (though not really since it’s a hit and run), but no. The two randos end up being murderous jewel thieves. So why exactly did they decide to ditch the loot and hide in a school with kids? And why is a kid getting a news alert about jewel thieves? Terrible jewel thieves that didn’t even bother to put on a ski mask. What even was their plan here?
I guess then it’s not surprising that they then blew themselves up, but at the same time, that was literally the only lightning strike the entire episode. Feel like we should’ve had some more at least for atmosphere and foreshadowing. Okay, there was a second literally as the ED started. Which means that Nube and the kids didn’t actually do anything at all here except narrate who the ghosts were and explain a news report. But at least they get the sweet smell of human flesh through their school courtyard and yet more trauma.
