Branch of Reincarnation #02 — Clowning Around

Character designs are my passion.

Impressions:

I still would not for the life of me describe this as good, but I’m enjoying how completely unhinged the pacing is, so it’s making me laugh, unlike the comedies this season. And any positive emotion is a good one, even if unintentional. I wouldn’t necessarily write it off as just traumatic backlash from it being bad in the complete opposite way of almost everything else though. Well, except for the production itself. That remains pretty poor, action scenes and not.

That said, the middle’s gigantic info dump, both from his not-brother and Musashi’s backstory, were pretty tedious and didn’t add much. Also, the dude kind of has a point about them relying on random-ass super powers, which makes them petulantly throwing tantrums a confused affair. Both sides are childish and stupid here. It’s a stark contrast between unceremoniously murdering a murder clown and random other dude as the introduction to an entire array of mutated history superheroes to start with, and then the very abrupt bonding session to end things. The ending especially was out of nowhere after neither of them had done anything whatsoever in the episode. Now he’s revealing his secret extra power to her and they’re swearing a death pact. How can you not at least chuckle at it? Certainly beats another teenage wail of anguish about life in general like the dramas keep pulling.
