Impressions:
This is what you get when you take Kaguya or Nagatoro and sand down every part that makes them distinctive, leaving only the overreactions and yelling. Not zany, not absurd, not annoyingly well animated. Just… a mountain of internal… and external… narration and setup to do the same overreactions, blushing, and yelling. It even has a whole flashback to assure us that yes, he is indeed an awkward loner nerd and she’s the manic pixie girl lavishing attention on him so they can both flop sweat about it. With yelling. And impact lines. To show how intense his reaction is. To her saying “you’re cool.”
I got my quinquennial urge to watch any primarily romance out of my system with Pseudo Harem, and this is a pale imitation of any of those shows mentioned, even if this wasn’t the fourth or fifth of these awful things in this season alone. That counts as watching most of a season of one of them anyway.
