It’s been just over a year since Anime Limited announced (at MCM Comic Con) that they would re-release GURREN LAGANN THE MOVIE on 4K UHD Blu-Ray, and (thanks to a newly published blog on the AllTheAnime website) we now have confirmation of how the film(s) will be released, and when to expect them, in the UK.
Both GURREN LAGANN movies, known as GURREN LAGAN -Childhood’s End- and GURREN LAGANN -The Lights in the Skys are Stars-, will be released in a single collection with each film on a single disc. As per usual both a Standard Edition and Collector’s Edition will be available, with the Collector’s Edition containing both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-Ray versions of the film in a Collector’s Art Box. The Standard Edition meanwhile only feature either 4K UHD Blu-Ray or Blu-Ray format. The Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-Ray + Blu-Ray) and the Standard Edition (Blu-Ray only) are planned to release on the 31st August 2026, while the Standard Edition (4K UHD Blu-Ray only) will release later in the year.
Synopsis: This is the story of a man who has yet to realise what destiny holds in store for him… Far in the future, humans have lived underground, quietly and restlessly, for hundreds of years, suffering from frequent earthquakes and land subsidence. In Giha Village, one such underground community, live two young men. Simon is shy andnaive, while Kamina believes in the existence ofa “surface” world above their heads.Their destinies start changing drastically when theceiling falls and a gigantic “Gunmen” and a beautifulgirl named Yoko with a superconductive rifle come from the surface. Kamina, Simon and Yoko get onthe “Lagann” that Simon digs out from the ground, and jump out to the surface! However, the surfaceis not such a dreamland as Kamina imagined. The world is ruled by the Spiral King and his army. Kamina and Simon, along with their comrades must challenge the Spiral King with Gurren Lagann if they hope to change the desperate world for the better!
It’s also important to note that all three editions of the film will feature the brand new English Dub as well as the original Japanese audio (with English subtitles) and an audio commentary track in Japanese stereo with English subtitles. The 4K UHD Blu-Ray versions will also feature the film with a 4K HDR10 presentation and the English Dub will be in Dolby Atmos.

GURREN LAGANN – THE MOVIE is currently scheduled to be released on the 31st August 2026 in the UK as a Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-Ray & Blu-Ray release. A Standard Edition Blu-Ray set will also be released on the same day and a Standard Edition 4K UHD Blu-Ray set will be released later in 2026.
