Anime Limited continues its cinematic partnership with North American distributor GKIDS, as the anime distributors have today confirmed that the 2010 Studio Ghibli film ARRIETTY will receive an IMAX and 4K Cinema release this October. Tickets for ARRIETTY are also available to book online through the official website.
Just like with the cinematic re-release of Kiki’s Delivery Service and Whisper of the Heart, ARRIETTY will use a new 4K remaster and be a staggered release in the UK. The film will debut first in IMAX at participating locations on the 14th October 2026 and will then receive a wider cinematic release in 4K from 16th October 2026. Both IMAX and 4K versions of the film will be available to watch in English and Japanese (with English subtitles) with the UK produced English Dub featuring the talents of Saoirse Ronan, Tom Holland, Olivia Colman, Geraldine McEwan, and Mark Strong.
Synopsis: In a secret world hidden beneath the floorboards, tiny people called Borrowers live out of sight of humans. But when brave Arrietty is out gathering supplies, she is discovered by Sho, a human boy, and they begin to form a friendship that blossoms into a heartwarming adventure.
As a reminder GKIDS acquired the UK distribution license to all Studio Ghibli films following the insolvency of Elysian Film Group and have partnered with Anime Limited to bring a selection of the films to the big screen in the UK. Since the partnership began both Kiki’s Delivery Service and Whisper of the Heart have been made available in IMAX and 4K in cinemas across the UK.
ARRIETTY is scheduled to be available in IMAX cinemas from 14th October 2026 with a wider cinema release to follow in 4K from 16th October 2026 and the film will be available in both English and Japanese (with English subtitles). Ticket availability and screening locations can be found through the official website.
