Why even leave a different body at all if it’s obvious it’s not you?
Impressions:
The main thought in my head for most of this episode was “Man, those anime bandages sure are perfect.” Hell, they even did Maomao’s makeup along with her bandages. By about five minutes into the episode, all wounds had vanished except for one little patch on her face, but then a few minutes later, someone remembered that they can milk it, so she lifts her skirt to reveal the sole bandage and remaining wound bleeding through because it’s so traaaaagic. Come on. Pick a lane.
Otherwise, it was the same as every other Maomao monologue episode. Possibly worse, as this entire scheme has been taking place somewhere offscreen. Like, all of it. The random bully lady faking her death, playing corpse roulette, so on and so forth. Why? Who knows. When? Off-screen, I guess an episode or two back. How? Heretofore unmentioned magical Chinese herbs. Is this really a satisfying mystery to people? Was it even a mystery at all if we’re getting what happened explained as they stumble upon the ‘crime’ scene? Reserving just the motive for a character who has existed in two thirty second scenes over the last 20 episodes to this point does not intrigue. Okay, that one new concubine has something to do with it, the way they cut away to her, but she’s been even less important. Meh. Just be over already.
