It was a night for celebration at the Oscars last night, especially for fans of Japanese media, as both Godzilla Minus One, and, The Boy and the Heron, won their awards in their respective categories.
Godzilla Minus One received the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, and in turn beating stiff competition from Hollywood blockbusters such as Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, The Creator and Napoleon.
The Boy and the Heron meanwhile, which has already won a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award, took home the Oscar award for Best Animated Film. The Boy and the Heron continues to be a monumental success within the film, and anime, industry and beat films such as Elemental, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Nimona in order to claim the Oscar.
Outside of Japanese media the biggest success at the Oscars seemed to be Oppenheimer, with the film taking home more than six Oscars. A full list of winners can be found here.
