The Macross offering on Disney+ in the UK has once again expanded, as Macross Zero (OVA Series), Macross 7 (TV Series) and Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: Lovers Again (OVA Series) are now available to stream on the platform.
All three titles are now available to stream on Disney+ in the UK in Japanese with English subtitles. Macross Zero consists of 5 episodes while Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: Lovers Again (otherwise known as Macross II) contains 6 episodes. Macross 7 on the other hand features 52 episodes, which means subscribers get access to all 49 episodes of the TV Anime and the 3 OVA episodes.
Macross Zero: A.D. 2008. Earth is burning with the flames of war. It all started back in 1999, when the mysterious alien ASS-1 spacecraft crashed onto South Ataria Island. This event divided the world into two camps, the U.N. Government, who wants to unite humanity against alien threats, and the Anti-Unification Alliance. Conflicts between the two sides finally exploded into the Unification War in 2001. Several years later, U.N. Military pilot, Shin Kudo, gets shot down and washes ashore on Mayan Island. Priestess Sara Nome, and her sister, Mao, rescue Shin as the U.N. Military and the Anti-Unification Alliance detect signs of a Protoculture relic in the waters near the island. When the war reaches the peaceful island, Shin, Sara, and Mao get caught in the fierce struggle for the Bird Human.
Macross 7: A.D. 2045. The Seventh New Macross Class Ship, Macross 7, is on a colonization mission in deep space carrying one million people in its fleet. The rock band Fire Bomber and its vocalists, Basara and Mylene, the seventh daughter of Captain Max and Mayor Milia, are performing aboard the main residential spacecraft, City 7, when unknown enemies attack the fleet. As the U.N. Military’s elite forces struggle in battle, Basara, the band’s lead singer and guitarist, joins the fray with his red Valkyrie. However, instead of opening fire, he attacks with his passionate singing, baffling both enemies and allies alike. The military soon learn the mysterious enemy are after Spiritia, the life energy of human beings. They also realize the key to winning this fight lies in the power of Basara’s singing.
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: Lovers Again: In the year 2090, the Space Battleship Macross that once saved Earth has turned into a city monument, and the human race now enjoys prosperity alongside the Zentran. However, a war between the Extrasolar species Marduk, who invaded the solar system, and the U.N. Military breaks out unexpectedly. Hibiki, a TV reporter who is always out to get the biggest scoops, heads to the battlefield to capture scenes of the Minmay Attack. Amid the chaos, Hibiki manages to get into the enemy’s battleship and encounters Ishtar, a beautiful young girl in a slumber.
As a reminder Anime Limited are planning to release Macross Zero on Blu-Ray in the UK, although specific details about its release have yet to be confirmed.
