Gotta sell that merch.
Impressions:
Oh boy. A whole episode of teenagers doing awkward meet-cutes and then the obligatory obnoxious Jump stuffed animal mascot antagonist-but-actually-a-punchline that virtually all of them must have. I knew it was coming, what with being the star feature of the ED, and I’m already sick of it. But it’s regardless purely space filler that if they wanted to get back to fighting aliens/monsters could’ve started the episode 12 minutes in. I guess it introduced a bitchy pink haired girl? Gee, that and the mascot make it a party then.
As usual, the girl’s attempt to be an awkward teenager is at least slightly more tolerable than the dude’s because she’s at least attempting to be better and is always the first to apologize while he’s always the screaming instigator and then can only stammer “I-I-I-I agree with everything you said” before it’s back to yelling uncontrollably about his dick. But I’m still long past the point where awkward anime teenagers stumbling over their feelings only to yell and reset the status quo immediately, if I ever had a time when I tolerated that to begin with. I feel like it’s somehow gotten even worse with the fall of visual novel harems. Maybe it’s the lack of competition, or that there aren’t so many awful ones that the merely bland don’t feel better by comparison.
